I wanted to address something that I caught yesterday and it kind of bothered me from a certain standpoint. 9/11 will forever exist, just as pearl harbor, slavery, columbine, oklahoma bombings,L.A. Riots. Watts riots, civil war, etc.
We have memorial for these things not because we haven’t moved on but America as a society is still younger than any other Country in the world. What we must not for get is that daily tragedy is not something we deal with, If you live in a violent neighborhood you have certain fears but you do not fear someone just blowing up the block. We as Americans have a certain insensitivity to the plight of the worlds problems, and tend to immortalize our own. I understand because we are the people who don’t grasp the seriousness of situations until it hits home. We don’t care about bird flu’s until it hits our shores. We care about animal rights before human rights, unless our civil rights are being questioned.
In a society that cares more about if gays and lesbians can get married, or whether you should say God in the pledge of allegiance its a certain callousness towards each others whoa’s. Thousands of people died in 9/11 in one swoop. We should never forget that never stop remembering 9/11. I would never forget that as a race we were brought here is as slaves the majority and now there is a black president, forget politics but just be real with yourself. The fore fathers never thought what considered to be cattle to ascend to the highest office in the USA . So I’m happy when Obama gets treated the sameway as every other president. I feel like if people want to yell at in congress let them, because we should never forget, some still never wanted to see it.
My point is this history is ours, I made Manifest Destiny on the concept of we have come so far to be at this place now, there are no excuses just perserverance. We’ve done things to our selves as a nation and also as individuals but yet we persevere, if you don’t remember what you’ve been through, you can’t be strong to get through what you are going to go through.
So never forget to be human, Never forget humanity, because when we stop feeling and caring for others, we stop essentially caring for ourselves.
